Rules & Regulations

I. TOURNAMENT

Aruba Open Beach Tennis Championships offers 8 tournaments

  1. Singles (categories: men, women, masters men, masters women)
  2. Mixed doubles
  3. Team cup and Nations cup
  4. Doubles (categories: men and women)
    These 4 tournaments are available in the following levels:
    1. Pro
    2. Advanced
    3. Intermediate
    4. Beginner
    5. Country (Only for Nations Cup!)
  5. Masters doubles (categories: men and women)
  6. Juniors tournament (categories: boys & girls U12, U14, U16, U18)
  7. ITF $50,000 qualifying draw consolation
  8. ITF $50,000 main draw consolation

IT IS ONLY ALLOWED TO REGISTER ONCE FOR EACH TOURNAMENT!!

II. MINIMUM AGE

  1. Singles tournament: 16 years - Masters singles: 50 years – U16: 12 years
  2. Mixed doubles: 14 years, at least 1 player has to be 16 years or older
  3. Team/Nations cup: 14 years and at least 2 players have to be 16 years or older
  4. Doubles tournament: 14 years, at least 1 player has to be 16 years or older
  5. Masters doubles: 50 years
  6. Juniors tournament: 8 years
  7. ITF $50,000 qualifying draw consolation: 14 years
  8. ITF $50,000 main draw consolation: 14 years

III. TOURNAMENT FORMATS

  1. Singles
    1. Pro Tournament: First 8 players on acceptance list receive a bye for Saturday. The others qualify on Saturday in round robin groups of 4 players. Number 1 of each group advances to draw of 32 on Sunday.
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6
    2. Amateur Tournament: Round robin group of 4 on Saturday, knock out rounds on Sunday.
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6
  2. Mixed doubles
    1. Pro Tournament: First 8 teams on acceptance list receive a bye for Monday. The rest qualifies on Monday in round robin groups of 4 players. Number 1 of each group advances to draw of 32 on Tuesday.
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
    2. Amateur Tournament: Round robin group of 4 on Monday, knockout rounds on Tuesday.
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
  3. Team/Nations Cup
    1. Nations Cup: Nations Cup: Max 6 players per team. Tournament format (Single elimination or round robin followed by (semi-) finals) depends on how many entries there are.
      All matches are 1 set men’s doubles, 1 set women’s doubles and 1 set mixed doubles. All sets are played till 6, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
    2. Team Cup: Max 4 players per team. Round robin group of 3 teams followed by knockout rounds.
      All matches are 1 set men’s doubles, 1 set women’s doubles and 1 set mixed doubles. All sets are played till 6, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
  4. Doubles
    1. ITF Main draw: 24 direct acceptances, 4 qualifiers, 4 wild cards (men’s and women’s doubles) Sign in Thursday, November 14 between 4 pm and 6 pm. Matches are played from Friday, November 15 till Sunday, November 17.
      All matches are best of 3 sets till 6, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
    2. ITF Qualifying draw: 26 direct acceptances and 6 wild cards (men’s and women’s doubles). Matches are played on Thursday November 14. Sign in on
      All matches are best of 3 sets with the first 2 sets till 6, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6. In case of a 3rd set, a super tiebreaker till 10 will be played instead of a regular set.
    3. Amateur Tournament: Round robin group of 4 teams, played on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. First 2 teams of each group advance to the knockout rounds on Sunday November 17.
      All amateur matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
  5. Masters (50+) doubles
    1. Men: 32 acceptances drawn in 8 groups of 4
      • 1st round, Sunday November 10: Round robin, first team of each group qualifies for quarter finals
        Round robin matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6.
      • Quarter finals, Tuesday November 12: Single elimination, winners advance to semifinal
      • Semifinals, Wednesday November 13: Single elimination, winners advance to the final
      • Final, Thursday November 14

      Elimination rounds are best of 3 sets with the first 2 sets till 6 and a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6. In case of a 3rd set, a super tiebreaker till 10 will be played instead of a regular set.
    2. Women: Complete tournament will be played on Thursday November 14 with round robin group play, followed by knockout rounds.
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
  6. Juniors Doubles
    1. U18 & U16 (boys and girls):
      • Tuesday November 12: Round robin matches
      • Wednesday November 12: Single elimination rounds
      • Thursday November 13: Finals U16 & U18 (boys & girls)
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
    2. U14, U12 & U10 (boys & girls):
      • Wednesday November 12: Round robin matches
      • Thursday November 13: Single elimination rounds
      All matches are 1 pro set till 7, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6
